Norton left us Tuesday to go to Dog Heaven. For those who did not know him, he did live quite a full life for 14 years. He always managed to find his way into an adventure. From his days of fence hoping when he was a puppy in Commack, to his last few years of not being able to walk very well. He always gave us a great story to tell about something he did.

He never met anyone who did not like him. I don't know exactly what it was in him, but people were always drawn to him. Maybe it was the bent tail he had from the first day Stacey rescued him at the shelter, or his big brown eyes. I'm not sure but he had something special in him.

He has met many people over the years from all the trips that he decided to take on his own. And all the people who have knocked on our door saying "is this your dog?", or the times we had to pick him up at a neighbors house. Everyone always loved him.

We'll miss you Norton!

Here are a couple of photos I had of Norton. If you have some photos of him, please upload a few on that page. Or post a comment below about him.

This was the last photo I took of him on Memorial Day weekend.

Keith, Nice job, very thoughtful. You did a very good tribute to Norton for the whole family.
Thank you for that. God teaches us all a lot about ourselves through our pets.
God Bless you, Suzanne, Isabelle and Samantha, and Lilly too,
Love, dad

Makes me feel a little closer to you and when you don't get to see the kids that often, they change and grow so quickly. Jennifer and Cheyenne and Shawn are coming next week for a month. Can't wait! They will be also be going down to Long Island visiting friends on Fire Island, so maybe we can get together and watch the kids play! Love to all, hugs and kisses too! Aunt Joanne

This is from a recent email that my old Oceanside High School football coach, Frank Luisi, sent out. I remember he told us these same words back when I was probably 14 or 15 years old. I understand it a lot more now then I did then. I thought it was worth sharing.

DON'T QUIT

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you are trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit -
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won if he stuck it out,
Don't give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow…or throw.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can know how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar,
So stick to the fight when you are hardest hit, --
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit…

We had a great game this year even though we were missing a number of players do to back injuries. Geoff made his first appearance in a Turkey Bowl in 15 years. I think we had the highest scoring Turkey Bowl in history. Thirteen touchdowns were scored. It was not a defensive battle. Scores were made on every drive except for one. The final score was 7 to 6 won by Geoff, Rob, Keith, and John...click here for some other photos.

We will have bagels, coffee, beer and goodies...It looks like it is going to be about 30 degrees colder then last year. Those of you from Southern Cal you may want to dress warm.

I’m not sure if anyone would be interested in reading this, but I started writing a new blog for the company I work for (Alpha Media). So, if you were ever interested in what I really work on all day or you just want to read a bunch of technical jargon then feel free to check back once a week or so. The address is blog.alphamedia.com.

Loved reading about what you really do! Of course it is all still a mystery to me since I do not understand the technical jargon, but at least it is in black and white. All my friends ask me what my son-in-law does and I give a general answer - but NOT anymore. I printed out your blog and will now hand them the pages of said blog. They will be sorry they asked!!!! I am impressed.

This weekend we went out east to Nassau Point. On our way out there we stopped at the Long Island Game Farm (www.longislandgamefarm.com) in Manorville. It was really a lot of fun for both Isabelle and us. We recommend anyone with little kids to go. It’s just a short ride and the park was not too big so you can see everything in just a few hours. Almost all of the animals you can walk up to, to feed and pet them…Here are the pictures we took at the farm.

At the house in Nassau Point we had a great time on the beach and Isabelle and Lily loved playing in the water in the bay...We also took a ride into Greenport on Friday and Sunday to eat at Claudio’s and walk around the town.

As you can see her ice cream cake melted a little quicker than I thought it would. Though it was 103 degrees yesterday and I guess I should have taken that into account. It still tasted great and Isabelle liked it too. It was the first time she had ice cream.

Wow that was amazing! The best game I have ever seen. I loved the other two Super Bowl wins by the Giants (`86 and `90) but that one clearly tops them all. Even above game 7 of the 2003 ALCS when the Yankees beat the Red Sox in 11 innings. Mainly because it was the Patriots and Belichick who they beat, but also because it was the first game in a long time that I did not want to miss one play. You were into the game from start to finish. Everyone who we watched the game with was glued to the television…By the way thank you to the Curti’s for having us all over. Everything was great.

Eli and the offense were great and made some incredibly plays in the fourth quarter last night but it was the defense who really won the game. As everyone always says, “offense wins you game but defense wins championships". The Patriots had the best offense in NFL history but the Giants clearly had a better defense and that is why they won.

Click here for a bunch of pictures of Isabelle wearing her Manning jersey. She made it through most of the game but missed the end…She watched it on Sports Center with me this morning.

The play of the game:

Here are a bunch of pictures of Isabelle and Jonah from Christmas.

Posted by Keith - Thu, Dec 27, 2007 4:40 pm

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Last Saturday we had our Secret Santa at Stacey and Tommy's new home when Cindy, Chris and Jonah were up from North Carolina.

This year we saw a transition from the traditional poems and riddles to a scavenger hunt, a crossword puzzle, a photo puzzle, an audio clue and even a homemade DVD. Click here to see if you can figure out who each riddle is for.

Saturday was Dad's birthday. We celebrated at our house with lots of raviolis, sausage and peppers, cake and Suzanne made Grandma's famous cream puffs. They came out great. Grandma would have been very proud. Clich here for some other photos from the party.

This Saturday we picked out our Christmas Tree for this year. In the new house the ceilings are nice and tall so we were able to get a 9 footer. Click here for some other recent photos.

Team photo from this year's Turkey Bowl...The weather was perfect. Mid 60's and sunny. Unlike the two prior years that got rained out. We had the usual crew of the Maurino's, Hancock's and Curti's, plus PJ who made his first game in a while now that he lives in NYC. The game was well fought and the final score was 4 to 3 won by Tommy, Stacey, Robby, little Raymond, PJ and his roomate.

Love the team photo. This is one seasoned batch of football players. My boys had a great time and are looking forward to next year.

Yesterday Isabelle got to meet former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber. He was signing his new book "Tiki" at the Book Revue in Huntington. He was really nice, took his time and spent probably about two and a half hours signing books and taking pictures with everybody. Click here for a couple of other pictures.

Isabelle is going to be a "heart breaker" and at
3 and 1/2 months has more hair then Tiki Barber!

Well we are finally starting to get settled in our new home in Northport. The office is still a disaster so I have not had a chance to upload new photos lately. Here is a whole bunch of photos from things over the past month. Mixed in you will see some photos of the new house as well. But they are mainly just of Isabelle, of course!

Last Sunday was Isabelle's Christening. Thank you to everyone who was able to make it and thanks for all of the thoughtful and generous gift for her. I did not get a chance to post this photo until today because we have been pretty busy the last few days. If you have not heard, we are moving to Northport. We actually just closed on our house yesterday and we will be closing on our new house on Monday. So, as Suzanne likes to say we are currently homeless! Technically we are renting our own house from the new owners right now. But if everything goes smoothly we should be done and all moved into our new home by Tuesday night…Oh and hope to see at the clambake next Saturday.

Beautiful, beautiful pictures!!!
I'm sure Suzanne doesn't remember me but I am a school friend of John and Ann Marie and I used to see Suzanne as a youngster at her Granparent Krupski's when I visited them. Suzanne, I see your father from time to time and he is always talking about you. Saw him last night and he told me about this site. Congratulations. Congratulations to you both on your new home and especially on your adorable baby.

In a related post that I put up on Apr 15, 2007, there was an R2D2 mail box stolen (thanks for the article Chris).

LOUISVILLE, Ky. A search of intergalactic importance is underway. But, it didn't happen a long time ago, or in a galaxy far, far away.

A mailbox painted to look like the Star Wars character R2-D2 was stolen, which is a federal offense. It's not just the droid the Post Office is looking for, it's the mail inside. For each item of mail stolen, the thief could spend five years in prison.

"I think those guys have joined the dark side or something," Rod Whitenack, Star Wars fan "why would you steal an R2D2 mailbox. Besides the fact it's a federal offense, that's just not cool, man."

Postal inspectors are continuing to investigate.

Today at 1:15pm, Isabelle April Maurino entered our world (6lbs 7oz, 19.5" long). Here are the first of many photos to come. Thank you for everyone's support today. We love you all!

Here is the breakdown of how everything happened…While eating dinner on Friday night at 6:45pm Suzanne's water broke. We watched the Yankees beat the Pirates in 10 innings. After the Yankees game Suzanne started to have her first contractions around 11pm. We spoke to the doctors a few times and decided to head over to the hospital. We arrived at Huntington Hospital around 3am Saturday. The next 8 hours were fun filled with a lot of contractions and waiting. At 11:30am Suzanne was fully dilated. Around 12:30 Suzanne was finally given the go ahead to start pushing. Isabelle was born in the unusual "sunny side up" position, looking at us as she came out at 1:15pm.

God has shined down his light and love and blessed our family once again with the lovely, healthy, happy birth of Isabelle April Maurino, turly a little angel. Thank you Suzanne and Keith. Your love has made this all possible and you two did a great job. We are all very proud and happy for you two and we thank you very much. God Bless baby Isabelle.

For the Star Wars 30th anniversary USPS (uspsjedimaster.com) has created R2-D2 mailboxes. In Huntington we are lucky to be one of the few to get one of these mailboxes. So, I had to get my picture taken in front of it as we walked by last night. If you want to see it the next time you are driving through Huntington town it is across the street from Blue Honu on New York Ave.

Well we finally got our first snowfall of the year. About two months late, but it was nice to see when I looked out the window this morning.

Suzanne is now 18 weeks into her pregnancy. The baby is said to be about the size of a large sweet potato. We have started the process of trying to come up with both a girl’s and a boy’s name. Some of the names we have so far are Isabelle, John Louis (both of our grandfathers), Joseph (my middle name).

Also, Suzanne’s baby shower will be on Saturday, May 5th at the Red Dish. Invitations will be going out soon. We are registered at Buy Buy Baby if anyone wants to take a look at our gift registry.

Posted by Keith - Mon, Jan 8, 2007 12:15 pm

This morning Suzanne had another appointment with the baby doctor and we got to hear our little peanut’s heartbeat for the first time. The heartbeat was much quicker and stronger sounding then I had imagined it would be. It was really amazing to hear it thumping away…Suzanne is now at 16 weeks and we are told the baby is about the size of an avocado.

In an unrelated topic…Sorry to all the New York football fans. I guess I will be rooting for the Indianapolis Colts now.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!! We were so Thankful to have James and my Father for the week!!!

The vision that filled my mind all day was of being at Grandma and Grandpa's on Fenway. We are all in the porch, attached to the end of the table is the card table(kids table). We are all so smooshed together. Uncle Louis is yelling at the TV football game. Aunt Patty's laugh fills the air. Everyone is laughing and talking too loud. And the three dogs, Gwen, Tanya and Shadow are getting into fights under the table over all the dropped food!! We are so Blessed to have this Family.

Love and Miss you All!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Unfortunately the Turkey Bowl was rained out again for the second year in a row. Maybe we can look into getting a dome for next year or possible someone still has one of those old vibrating electric football games that we can play next year? All in all it was not a good day for football. The Dallas game was over by the first quarter and who really wants to watch Miami vs. Detroit. And to top it off we could not watch Denver vs. KC, because we cannot get NFL Network...For those of you who were at Aunt Lois' house last night, I know there were a couple of pictures taken of Psycho Santa. I expect to see one on this site soon...Thank you for all the cream puffs Aunt Lois. They were exactly like Grandma used to make them, minus the Lord & Taylor box of course...Happy 26th birthday Michelle!

Going through some old stuff I came across this card that Michael made and handed out at one of the family clambakes that Grandpa made famous. As soon as I came across this I new I had to put it on the website, because he is the true meaning of the Maurino family. I think the card explains it all. Read it and remember it…for those of you new to the family, who did not know him, I hope this helps explain how important family is to all us.

For those of you who have not heard yet, Suzanne is pregnant. She got her first sonogram today and here is a picture of our little "peanut" at only 8 weeks. No, it is not twins. Little "Baby Maurino" is on the left and the yolk sac is the smaller circle just to the right. The doctor said the baby is actually a little smaller then a peanut and about the size of a dime right now.

Congratulations on your wonderful news! Hope Suzanne is feeling good and resting as much as possible. I will e-mail some family photos when I have a chance. Hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving. All our love to all.
